THOUSANDS were affected when Tropical Storm ‘Crising’ hit the country last week.

Aside from displacing 370,289 people, including 120,008 families, the storm also left five people dead, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.

Two of the fatalities came from the province of Cagayan, while the other three were from Lanao del Sur, Camiguin, and Davao Occidental.

Severe flooding also occured in several towns in La Union where 1,608 families were evacuated.

The Office of the Civil Defense was validating reports about three persons who had gone missing at the height of severe flooding in Antique.

According to Pagasa, another tropical cyclone may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before the end of July.

The state weather bureau added that monsoon rains will continue to affect most parts of the country.(Theressa Faye Lacandazo, USC Comm Intern)
