THE Department of Labor and Employment-Central Visayas (DOLE-7) hired 210 jobseekers on the spot during its Kalayaan Job Fair on June 12, reflecting a 31.44 percent placement rate across three venues in the region.

The agency reported that 668 individuals registered for the job fair held simultaneously in Dumaguete City, SM Seaside Cebu in Cebu City, and Bohol.

The job fair in Cebu City recorded the highest on-the-spot hiring rate at 36.44 percent, followed by Bohol and Dumaguete.

According to the labor agency, of those hired, 129 were women and 81 were men.

Cebu City led with 82 hired applicants, while Bohol followed with 65, and Dumaguete with 63.

Employers hired the most jobseekers for the following positions: 22 as cashiers, 18 as ESL teachers, 18 as room attendants, 10 in sales or area maintenance, and 6 as office staff.

Aside from job placements, 306 jobseekers also availed of One-Stop-Shop Services provided by various government agencies.

Dole-7 recorded 198 women and 108 men who used these services.

Eleven individuals availed of livelihood assistance, five accessed entrepreneurship opportunities, and two underwent skills enhancement.

Dole-7 Director Roy Buenafe said the job fair aimed to expand employment access, reduce job mismatch, and bring government services directly to jobseekers in the region.(MyTVCebu)
