EIGHT out of nine Cebuano applicants were picked in the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft on Sunday, September 7.

The group of Cebuano players who were among the 122 applicants were Arnold Dave Ando, Sean Quitevis, Dolan Adlawan, JJ Gesalem, Royce Alforque, John Galinato, Kenny Rogers Rocacurva, Kint Ariar, and Gab Cometa.

Out of the nine, only Cometa, a former University of the Visayas Green Lancer, was not picked.

Ando, a 6-foot-7 forward from San Remigio, northern Cebu who played college ball with the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, was selected 14th overall by the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters.

The 6-foot-1 Cebu City native Quitevis was chosen as the 36th overall pick by the TNT Tropang 5G, where he will play alongside fellow Cebuano Roger Pogoy.

The 6-foot-5 Adlawan was tabbed by the Terrafirma Dyip as the 37th overall pick. Joining Adlawan at Terrafirma is Liloan, Cebu native Alforque, who was chosen as 48th overall pick.

Gesalemโ€™s name was called as the 51st overall pick by NorthPort Batang Pier.

Rocacurva, a native of Camotes Island, also joined NorthPort as the 77th overall pick. Galinato went to the NLEX Road Warriors as the 78th overall pick.

Ariar, the pride of Lapu-Lapu City, also made his way to the Batang Pier as the 81st overall pick.(CCM)
