COMING off a historic run in the World Pool Championship in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, Carlo Biado is heading to Orlando where he will lead a group of Filipino cue artists seeing action in the 2025 Florida Open Pool Championship.

Slated August 5 to 10 at the Caribe Royale Resort, the nine-ball tournament will be participated in by 256 players with a prize pool of $200,000 (roughly P11.4 million).

The champion will bring home a staggering $40,000 (around P2.2 million).

Biado is fresh from winning the World Pool Championship where he pocketed a whopping $250,000 (approximately P14.2 million). It was a historic run for Biado as he became the first Filipino to win the tournament twice.

Previous Filipino players to win the World Pool Championship are Efren “Bata” Reyes in 1999, Ronnie Alcano in 2006, and Francisco “Django” Bustamante in 2010.

Other Filipino cue arthritis competing in the Florida event are World Pool Championship semifinalist Bernie Regalario and quarterfinalist Jefrey Roda, Johann Chua, AJ Manas, Patrick Gonzales, Lee Vann Corteza, Roland Garcia, Mark Muir, Marvin Asis, Michael Baoanan an Harry Vergara.

The tournament could become a repeat or revenge as the tournament also features Fedor Gorst, the American-Russian player who lost to Biado in the World Pool Championship.(CCM)
