“CEBU Governor-elect Pamela Baricuatro is really the people’s governor.”

That’s how incoming Danao City Vice Mayor Ivy Durano described Baricuatro, as the Durano political clan publicly restated its commitment to the alliance with the province’s new top official.

In a media forum on Monday, June 16, Durano and her brother, outgoing Mayor Ramon “Mix” Durano III, said they are fully aligned with Baricuatro’s vision, particularly on health care and people-centered governance.

“Iyang vision in line man sad sa among vision,” Mix said during the MyTV Cebu Openline News Media Forum. “Panarbaho sa katawhan and health is in line with Danao City’s vision.”

Mix said that while Danao prides itself on being a self-sustaining component city, it welcomes support from the provincial government, especially if it means amplifying services for the people.

“If there is support, then magpasalamat mi. We are mindful of catering to what’s needed within Danao City budget, but if naay additional, then nindot jud kaayo,” he said.

The outgoing mayor said Baricuatro’s promise of better health programs across Cebu should also reach Danao and other underserved localities.

“Ma-consider unta na ni Governor Pam nga iya gyud matuman to easily reach the security nga needed sa katawhan,” he added.

Ivy, who has served in various roles in local government, shared the same vision and reiterated the family’s long-standing brand of governance, focused on results, equity, and service.

“In Danao, we always have a style nga we always strive for the best. Taxes being paid by the people are being returned through programs and services,” she said.

Ivy added, “People-centered governance will remain our priority.”

The Duranos were the only major political family in Cebu to openly support Baricuatro during the 2025 elections.

Just earlier, the new governor appointed former tourism secretary and ex-congressman Ace Durano, Mix’s cousin, as her special adviser on economic and political affairs.

Baricuatro described the alliance as one anchored in “tinuod nga serbisyo” (genuine service) and unity.

“Lipay gyud ko nga magtinabangay ta isip mga Sugbuanon nga ang tuyo mao ang tinuod nga serbisyo. Kon magkahiusa ta, daghan gyud kaayong mahimo,” Baricuatro said in a social media post.

In his reply, Ace said it was an honor to be part of Baricuatro’s team.

“I'm excited to work with you, Gov Pam. It’s an honor to be part of your journey in providing Cebuanos the services they truly deserve,” he said.

Baricuatro will assume office on June 30, following her upset victory over political giant Gwen Garcia in the 2025 midterm election.(TGP)
