RESIDENTS in Cebu and neighboring provinces are advised to brace for hot and humid conditions over the next five days, with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in Visayas said the region will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies from Saturday, May 17, until Wednesday, May 21, with localized rain showers or thunderstorms expected, especially during warmer hours.

Daily temperatures are forecast to range between 26 to 32 degrees Celsius over the weekend. By Monday, May 19, through Wednesday, May 21, daytime temperatures will slightly rise, ranging from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Wind conditions will remain light to moderate, blowing from the northeast to east, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate, making sea travel generally safe for small vessels.

Hereโ€™s the detailed five-day outlook for Cebu and nearby areas:

Saturday, May 17: Partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures between 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Sunday, May 18: Similar conditions expected, with temperatures slightly cooler at 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.

Monday to Wednesday (May 19 to 21): Daily highs to reach up to 32 degrees Celsius, with early morning lows at 27 degrees. Light to moderate winds from the northeast to east will continue, and seas will remain slight to moderate.

The Pagasa said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is currently affecting Mindanao, while easterlies, warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, are influencing the weather across the rest of the country, including the Visayas.

The weather bureau reminded the public, particularly those working or staying outdoors, to take precautions against heat stress and sudden downpours that could lead to localized flooding.

For weather updates, the public is advised to stay tuned to official Pagasa bulletins and advisories.(TGP)
