Illegal gun-manufacturing hub in Danao dismantled

POLICE dismantled an llegal gun factory in Barangay Masaba, Danao City, northern Cebu.

During the operation on Thursday, March 5, operatives of the 701st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas and Danao City Police Station seized various machines needed to manufacture guns.

Assorte gun parts were also recovered.

The operation was part of the “Bakal ng Pagbabago: From Guns to Gifts, Turning Metals into Meaning”, a program initiated by Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, meant to end illegal gun-manufacturing activities not just in Danao but in other areas in the region.

The recent operation in Danao was done in close coordination with the local government unit.

“We also extend our sincere appreciation to the local government unit of Danao City and especially the barangay officials of Masaba for their collaboration and cooperation. Their partnership with the police is vital in sustaining the gains of the Bakal ng Pagbabago program and ensuring that illegal gun-making activities will no longer thrive in their communities,” said Maranan.(CDB)
