THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced on Wednesday, July 16, that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) located inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into Tropical Depression “Crising”.

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the center of Tropical Depression “Crising” is located 725 km East of Virac, Catanduanes and is moving westward at a speed of 35 km/hr.

“Crising” has a maximum sustained winds of 45 km/hr near the center and a gustiness of up to 55 km/hr. There are no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TWCS) issued as of the writing.

“Crising” is projected to develop into a Tropical Storm by Thursday morning, July 17, 2025. The Tropical Depression is expected to continue to intensify over the Philippine Sea and may become a Severe Tropical Storm by Friday afternoon or evening.

According to Pagasa’s forecast “Crising” will be closest to Northern Luzon on Friday evening and possibly make landfall over the Babuyan Islands.(Marlon Ado Jr., USC Comm Intern)
