THE Las Vegas Aces stamped their class anew, clinching their third title in four years by defeating the Phoenix Mercury, 97-86, in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Saturday (Philippine time), Oct. 11.

The Aces scored a clean 4-0 sweep in the league’s first-ever best-of-seven title series as they cemented their status as one of the league’s greatest franchises.

Four-time MVP A’ja Wilson was superb in the title-clinching win, finishing with 31 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three blockls. She went on to win the Finals MVP honors after averaging 28.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in the title series.

Las Vegas, which won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, also got superb performances from Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, who each scored 18 points and combined for 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

Jewell Loyd and Dana Evans gave the Aces a huge lift from the bench as they contributed 12 and 10 markers, respectively.

Kahleah Cooper erupted for a game-high 30 points but the Mercury faltered in their bid to win a fourth WNBA title.

Alyssa Thomas added 17 points while Dewanna Bonner, Monique Akoa Makani, and Kalani Brown each had 10 points for Phoenix, which failed to recover after falling behind by 16 at the half, 38-54.(CCM)
