THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) has ordered police officer and vlogger Francis Steve Fontillas to respond to administrative complaints stemming from online criticisms against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and top officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan confirmed that Fontillas faces charges for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

Fontillas has been given a non-extendable period of five days to file his counter-affidavit. Failure to comply means he waives his right to dispute the allegations.

“It is time for Fontillas to prove he is mentally fit to serve as a police officer by answering these charges. Let’s put an end to this matter,” Calinisan said in a Philippine Star report.

Fontillas, a four-year veteran of the PNP, gained attention on social media for his remarks against the government following the recent arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte. He has since continued to criticize the PNP leadership, including PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil and other senior officials.

In The Philippine Star report, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) stated that Fontillas had gone absent without leave (AWOL) since March 6.

Fontillas denied this claim, posting photos suggesting he had reported for duty. He also threatened to file cyberlibel cases against major television networks for allegedly spreading misinformation about his status.

The QCPD has lodged a sedition complaint against Fontillas, adding to five other administrative complaints filed with Napolcom and the National Capital Region Police Office.(MyTVCebu)
