DEFENDING champion Abante Minglanilla posted back-to-back wins after it whipped the San Fernando Buffalos, 86-57, in the Rhea Gullas Cup 2025 First District Basketball Tournament on Sunday, September 7, at the Carcar Sports Complex in Carcar City, southern Cebu.
Minglanillaโs 29-point victory came after it carved out a 75-69 tripping of Sidlak Carcar last Saturday, September 6, at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
Minglanilla made it a winning weekend when Lance Kendrew Salma erupted for 22 points against San Fernando. Salma also finished with four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Khranz John Mendaros added 12 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists while Kurt Denver Erediano had a near double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds as Minglanilla pocketed its third in four games to stay at second spot in the team standings.
Jarmaine Keith Suan fired 18 points and Jan Laurence Saz had 11 for San Fernando, which dropped to 1-3 (win-loss).
In the other match, Carcar bounced back from that six-point loss to Minglanilla when it downed Blissful Sibonga, 74-66.
Dhrazy Bacon tallied 19 points, Treb Josaphat Mancao pitched in 14 markers and Christopher Dellica had 13 for Carcar, which evened its record to 2-2.
Niรฑo Keanz Hermia exploded for 30 points but Sibonga still crashed to its third defeat in four outings.(CCM)
