THE streak’s over for the Cebu City-based boxer Alex Santisima as he faltered against China’s Wensong Liu over the weekend in Yantai, China.

The taller Liu dominated Santisima, scoring a fifth-round technical knockout win to wrest the World Boxing Council (WBC) Far East Featherweight title.

The loss ended Santisima’s three-fight winning streak as aside from failing to win the WBC belt, he also faltered in his bid to avenge his brother Gabriel’s defeat in China last May.

Gabriel bowed to Liu’s compatriot Zhong Liu in their duel for the World Boxing Organization Oriental super bantamweight title.

For Alex, it’s back to the drawing board.

The 25-year-old fighter suffered just his second loss in 13 pro fights. He has five knockout (KO) wins.

The 27-year-old Liu, on the other hand, secured his second straight win, hiking his recoed to 13W-4L, 10KOs.(CCM)
