STRONG Group-Philippines padded their unbeaten run to six with a 106-98 trampling of Malaysia in the 44th William Jones Cup on Friday, July 18, at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.

With the victory, Strong Group forged a championship match with Bahrain, which failed to protect its unbeaten slate after falling to Chinese Taipei B, 50-93, late Friday.

Bahrain dropped to 6-1 (win-loss).

Strong Groupโ€™s title duel with Bahrain is scheduled at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, with the Philippine-based squad looking to complete a back-to-back championship.

DJ Fenner led Strong Group against Malaysia with 20 points on an efficient 7-of-10 clip. He also had eight rebounds and four assists.

Kiefer Ravena tossed in 17 points and three boards, Dave Ildefonoso donated 13 markers while Geo Chiu and Ange Kouame both tallied double-double games.

Chiu piled up 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, while Kouame came away with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.

Also giving Strong Group a huge lift was Allen Liwag, who came off the bench to add 16 points with four boards, two assists, and two blocks.

American guard Steven Green topped Malaysia with a whopping 50 points.(CCM)
