THE first offering of the highly successful “Kumong Bol-anon” boxing series this year promises to be an explosive one.

The PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions formally announced that the 24th installment of Kumong Bol-anon on Feb. 28 at the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City will be headlined by Regie “Filipino Phenom” Suganob, the prized fighter of the talent-laden PMI Bohol Boxing Gym.

PMI’s consultant Edito Villamor confirmed the development on Wednesday, Jan. 7, but Suganob’s opponent is yet to be finalized.

Suganob turned in an impressive showing in his last fight last year that saw him scoring a dominant unanimous decision win over Tanzanian Mchanja Yohana.

After that Nov. 15 win, lawyer-sportsman Floriezyl Echavez-Podot, the top honcho of PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions , said they will aggressively pursue big fights for Suganob this year.

Suganob has won his last four fights–a mini streak that lifted him one spot higher in the latest World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight rankings where he jumped from No. 4 to No. 3.

Another win in February will certainly brighten Suganob’s aspirations of competing again for a world title. The hard-hitting fighter fell short in his first crack at a world title after he lost to hometown bet Sivenathi Nontshinga in South Africa in 2023.

Suganob, the reigning WBO Global light flyweight title, has 17 wins with only one defeat. Six of his wins came via knockout.(CCM)
