AN EXPLOSIVE duel will spice up the 21st installment of the highly successful “Kumong Bol-anon” boxing series as Joseph Sumabong battles the undefeated Joperson Trazo for the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Youth minimumweight championship in one of the card’s main supporting bouts on Friday, June 6, in Barangay Mangga, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Boxing fans are in for a huge treat as the camp of Trazo threatened to knock out Sumabong in the card put up by PMI Boxing Promotions headed by lawyer-sportsman Floriezyl Podot.
Trazo, fighting out of Chao Sy Boxing Stable, is determined to avenge the loss of his stablemate John Kevien Jimenez to Sumabong.
It can be recalled that Sumabong stopped Jimenez in the second round of their WBO Asia Pacific Youth Minimumweight title fight last December
Gideon Bacus, Trazo’s trainer, said his ward is all pumped up to duke it out with Sumabong.
“We’ve done the necessary preparations to win the fight. If we can execute our gameplan, this fight will not go the full eight-round route. We can guarantee that,” Bacus said in Cebuano when interviewed by Sports Ta Bai!
Trazo is undefeated in six fights with one draw. His last fight was a unanimous decision win over Marlon Alejandro last February 18 at the Lagtang Gym in Talisay City.
Owner of seven wins with only one loss, Sumabong was unfazed by his opponent’s threat. He said he has studied Trazo’s style well and expressed confidence in winning the fight.
“I dont care what they say. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve trained hard, prepared well and am focused on winning the fight,” said Sumabong.
Exqually exciting is the main event duel between WBA Asia super-flyweight champion Reymart Tagacanao and Jaysever Abcede.
Tagacanao is unbeaten in 10 fights, eight of them came by way of knockout.
In another main supporting bout, PMI Bohol Boxing Stable’s Shane Gentallan (11-1, 6 KOs) will take on Jonathan Refugio (22-12-5, 8KOs).
Other fights will feature Gerwin Asilo (10-1, 4 KOs) versus Jason Mopon (11-21, 1KO), Leonard Pores III (6-0, 5 KOs) vs. Justine Digamo (4-4-1, 3KOs), Freshler Utrera (2-0, 1KO) vs. Romel Eton (2-0, 1KO), and Datu Adam (3-0, 2KOs) vs. Paulo Fortune (3-2, 1KO).(CCM)
