AEBA BASKETBALL: Tadena buzzer-beater lifts Dextructures over RELLM

GIBER Tadena hit a three-pointer at the buzzer that powered Dextructures to a heart-stopping 71-70 win over RELLM Engineering in the Architects and Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) 9th Corporate Cup on Saturday, May 23, at the University of San Carlos Downtown Campus Gymnasium in Cebu City.

Dextructures teetered on the brink of defeat when RELLM took a 70-68 lead with 2.4 seconds left.

Tadena then came to Dextructures’ rescue.

Receiving the ball from the top of the key, Tadena let loose a three-point shot with the balll kissing off the glass before falling in just before the final buzzer sounded, sending Dextructures into a wild celebration.

Tadena’s game-winning shot preserved Darwin Gabaca’s solid all-around game as he led Dextructures with 25 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Dexter Estilloro added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Rozien Rivera contributed 14 points in Dextrucures’s second win in five games.

Dropping to 2-3 (win-loss), RELLM got 21 points from Joemari Buhion and 14 markers from Kyle Philip Ng.

Meanwhile, Johnro Electrical stayed hot and downed Avantrac, 88-82.

Jacob Fernandez fired 20 points, Mark Gamboa tallied 18 markers and Jim Karl Villamor threw in 13 as Johnro cemented its hold on the No. 1 spot with a clean 5-0 slate.

Jemcerson Sable erupted for 30 points but Avantrac tasted its second defeat in five outings.

In other games, Sports & Play escaped EGS Surveying , 68-66, Sinclair tripped Fenestram, 79-68, and CBM Engineering whipped Davies Paints, 86-73.(CCM)
