BENEDICTO College (BC) had a productive day on Tuesday, Sept. 15, when it scored a twinkill in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

In the college division, the Cheetahs prevailed in a marquee matchup after drubbing the fancied University of Cebu (UC)-Main Webmasters, 67-50.

The 17-point win allowed the Cheetahs to seize the solo top spot in the team standings with a spotless 3-0 (win-loss) record.

UC, on the other hand, stumbled to its first defeat after starting the season with three successive wins.

The Cheetahs committed 24 errors but survived the erratic game by tallying 21 assists. The Webmasters only 19 turnovers but could only come up with seven assists.

Kenneth Babalcon turned in a solid all-around game with 11 assists, nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Serge Gabines also had a near double-double for BC after piling up 18 points and nine boards. John Carlo Sabroso pitched in 15 points in the win.

For UC, Ricofer Sordilla was the only Webmaster in twin digits with 11 points.

BC’s high school team was also victorious with the Baby Cheetahs trampling the San Roque College de Cebu Greyhounds, 70-50.

Finally breaking into the win column after a 0-2 start, the Baby Cheetahs were led by Jake David Guangco and Rajnish Butaslac, who scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

BC also got a huge lfit from Christeim Gascon, who scored just six points but posted 14 rebounds to go with five steals and four assists.

Anthony Ross Luche scored 14 points to lead the Greyhounds, who faltered scoring a 62-59 win over the Paref-Springdale Titans in their maiden game.(CCM)
