TWO-TIME Paris Olympics gold medalist Carlos Yulo has admitted that his conflict with his family is taking its toll on him.
The diminutive gymnast recently opened up about his personal struggles during an interview with Toni Gonzaga, admitting to “mistakes” that have caused him to experience what he describes as karma.
While Yulo has largely remained silent on the rift with his family, he confirmed that misunderstandings have surfaced on social media, particularly regarding his relationship with girlfriend Chloe San Jose, who has stood by him as a defender.
In the conversation with Gonzaga, Yulo emphasized the personal nature of his issues, stating, “It’s too personal… I know in my heart that I’ve forgiven them.”
He reflected on the emotional turmoil of defending himself and his relationship, acknowledging the difficulty of navigating these challenges while remaining true to himself.
“I had my karma because it was wrong to talk back to them,” he said in Filipino.
Despite these tensions, Yulo expressed gratitude for his faith, which he credits for his accomplishments and for surrounding him with supportive people.
He stated, “I know what I did wrong. I accepted it. I dedicated it to the Lord,” emphasizing a focus on personal growth and his relationship with San Jose.
San Jose, also featured in the interview, shared her own feelings about the family dynamic, expressing hurt over the lack of support from Yulo's family.
She voiced her confusion about how family members could undermine rather than uplift each other, stating, “Family should be the first ones to love you and support you unconditionally.”
Yulo did not delve into specifics regarding the mistakes or the nature of his karma.(CMM)
