Castro: No replacement for Frasco yet
THE Malacañang has yet to name a replacement for former Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
Undersecretary Claire Castro on Tuesday, March 17, said discussions on Frasco’s successor have not yet been taken up.
Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso has been named officer-in-charge of DOT.
After her removal from the Department of Tourism (DOT), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Frasco as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities.
“First of all, Secretary Frasco still has the trust given by the President. The President knows that she can perform the tasks given to her as the Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities," Castro told reporters at Bagong Pilipinas Studios in Mandaue City.
In her new role, Frasco will facilitate the integration and alignment of national government initiatives, plans, policies, and programs aimed at promoting sustainable and resilient communities.
Frasco will also lead efforts related to disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable local development.
She will also coordinate with national government agencies, local government units, and relevant stakeholders to support the effective implementation of presidential directives and prioritize national initiatives on sustainable and resilient communities.
Additionally, she will monitor the progress of these initiatives and identify gaps, bottlenecks, or coordination issues that may affect efforts to strengthen community sustainability and resilience.
Castro said the President believes Frasco can effectively coordinate with local government units to help lessen the impact of disasters and unexpected events on communities.(MyTVCebu)
