Cebuano Trazo falls short in Thailand
IT’S back to the drawing board for Cebuano boxer Joperson Trazo after he bowed to hometown bet Thananchai Charunphak in their Oct. 30 duel in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
The veteran Charunphak came up with a unanimous decision win to capture the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia flyweight title.
“It was a good fight by Trazo. It was just that, the Thailander was complaining a lot to the referee,” said Trazo’s manager Lorezo “Chao” Sy.
Proving crucial in the fight were the separate two-point deductions that were slapped against Trazo following clashes of heads.
Sy said he was surprised that Trazo was penalized when the repeated clashes of heads were all accidental.
Nonetheless, Sy still commended Trazo for showing a tough stand in his first-ever international fight.
The 21-year Trazo suffered his third loss against nine wins. He has two knockout victories.
Charunphak sealed his 33rd win with only two losses. Sixteen of his victories came via stoppage.(CCM)
