Classmate stabs 13-year-old student during recess at Las Piñas school

RECESS ended in tragedy at a Las Piñas school on Friday, July 31, after a 13-year-old student was stabbed by his classmate, police said.

The victim, a Grade 9 student at Las Piñas National High School, was stabbed at around 4:30 p.m. after he got into a quarrel with his 14-year-old classmate, according to the Southern Police District.

“They had a heated argument. Then, suddenly, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim,” Las Piñas acting police chief Fermin Armendez III told Philstar in a phone interview.

The victim sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest. He was rushed to the Las Piñas District Hospital, where he was declared dead at 4:53 p.m.

Armendez said the 14-year-old suspect, who is also a minor, would be referred to the Las Piñas City Social Welfare and Development Office for evaluation to determine his liability.(MyTVCebu)
