THE quiet hills of Barangay Lutac in City of Naga, southern Cebu, echoed with horror as a brutal crime unfolded—one that neighbors say was a tragedy waiting to happen.

Junelyn Jimenez, 32, and her two children, 11-year-old John Carlo and 2-year-old LJ, were found lifeless inside their home in Sitio Ugan on Monday morning, January 27.

The suspect in the gruesome crime was the head of the family. Carlo Camporedondo, 32, was arrested a few hours after the crime.

The victims bore hack wounds.

Based on reports, neighbors revealed that the couple’s relationship had been troubled, marked by frequent arguments.

Camporedondo, who had undergone rehabilitation for substance abuse, was believed to have relapsed.

The youngest victim, 2-year-old LJ, suffered the most severe injuries, with the public describing the act as “beyond inhuman.”

"Maglagut gyud ko oi. Ngano man tawn naay mga taw ingon-ana oi. Kasakita sa dughan oi," a netizen said in a breaking news post of MyTV Cebu on the matter.

The tragedy has sparked calls for greater awareness of domestic violence and the devastating effects of substance addiction, as the community mourns the loss of three lives in an incident they say could have been prevented.

It can be remembered that authorities recently discovered the decapitated body of a six-year-old boy in Tabogon, northern Cebu, just days after he was reported missing on January 9.(MyTVCebu)
