THE country’s biggest and longest-running footrace recently came to a close with Eduardo Flores and Myrel Benignos stamping their classes in the 2025 National Milo Marathon Finals in La Paz Plaza, Iloilo City.
Flores, a 27-year-old native of General Santos City, ruled the 42K men’s division by finishing the race in 2:27:58.
Benignos, a native of Negros Oriental, ruled the distaff side in a historic fashion after ending the race in 3:15:21. At 22 years old, Benignos became the youngest runner to become the youngest Milo Marathon Queen in the event’s 25-year history.
Last year’s National Milo Marathon Finals winners were Richard Salaño and Christine Hallasgo, who are currently representing the Philippines at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, cementing the event’s major role in developing elite Filipino runners.
For the 2026 edition of the National Milo Marathon, at least 50 races are in store as the prestigious footrace seeks to continue its authority and legacy as the country’s grandest and longest-running marathon in the country.(CCM)
