Hot-shooting Rain or Shine blasts Terrafirma, now 7-0
WAXING hot from beyond the arc, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters kept their immaculate slate intact with a 124-117 drubbing of the Terrafirma Dyip in the 50th PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night, April 15, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Rain or Shine sank 22 triples and a four-pointer, tying a league-record for most fieldgoals made from beyond the arc.
Anton Asistio typified Rain or Shine’s searing outside shooting by hitting four of his six three-point attempts to finish with 18 points.
Asistio sparked Rain or Shine’s breakaway in the second quarter where he scored 15 in a telling 41-18 run that helped the Elasto Painter turned a 26-27 deficit into a commanding 67-45 advantage at the half.
Import Jaylen Johnson also scored 18 points as the Elasto Painters solidified their hold on the solo No. 1 spot with an impressive 7-0 (win-loss) slate.
Jun Roque, Adrian Nocum, and Gian Mamuyac also scored in double figures for the rampaging Elaso Painters.
Import Mubashar Ali erupted for a game-high 32 points and four locals also submitted twin figures but Terrafima still succumbed to its fourth straight defeat.
The Dyip have not won since starting the tournament with three surprising wins.
