HVI yields P10-million shabu in Mandaue drug sting

MORE than P10 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from a 22-year-old man in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue CIty on Thuesday night, Feb. 19.

Police identified the suspect as a certain John, a resident of Barangay Pardo, Cebu City.

The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) said the suspect was considered as a high-value individual (HVI).

Operatives of MCPO’s Intelligence Unit and Drug Enforcement Group-Central Visayas cornered the suspect in a buy-bust operation on Zuellig Street at 10:34 p.m.

Suspected shabu weighing 1.5 kilos with an estimated value of P10.2 million was from the young man.

Further investigation showed that the suspect was the same person who was arrested in 2022 for the same offense.

The suspect was released from jail in October 2024 after availing of a plea bargain agreement.

Police said that from a street-level pusher, the suspect was elevated to being an HVI as he was allegedly capable of selling two kilos of shabu a week.(CDB)
