Ildefonso erupts in Abra’s historic win over Bacolod in MPBL

DAVE Ildefonso showed why he is the league’s reigning MVP when he put up big numbers to lead the defending champions Abra Solid North Weavers to a historic 129-45 win over the Bacolod Maskarras in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season on Monday night, July 21, at the One Arena Cainta in Rizal Province.

Ildefonso, son of PBA legend Danny Ildefonso, fired a career-high 40 points, nearly outscoring the entire Bacolod squad as Abra hiked its league-best record to 15-1 (win-loss).

Six other Abra players scored in double figures in a balanced attack that sealed the league’s biggest winning margin. The 84-point win shattered the previous record posted by the San Juan Knights, who buried the Mindoro Tamaraws by 82 points, 146-64, on Sept. 13, 2022.

Ildefonso also tallied eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Raven Gonzales added 19 points, 20 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, Niko Elorde tossed in 13 points, seven assists, and two rebounds, Alfred Batino had 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Tucker Molina, Josh Asuncion, and John Figueroa each scored 10 points.

Desmond Price finished with 12 points, Emman Galman wound up with 11 markers and Rafael Go had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Bacolod, which fell to 3-18.(CCM)
