JENNIFER Lopez is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit after posting paparazzi photos of herself on social media without obtaining permission from the photographer and the agency that own the rights.
According to reports from the BBC and the Los Angeles Times, photographer Edwin Blanco and photo agency Backgrid USA have filed separate lawsuits against Lopez.
The images in question were taken at a pre-Golden Globes party in January 2025, showing Lopez in a white fur coat and slip dress outside the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. She shared the photos on Instagram and X with the caption "Weekend Glamour."
The plaintiffs alleged that Lopez used the images to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships, thereby infringing on their copyrights. They are seeking up to $150,000 in damages for each photo used, as well as a jury trial.
Attorney Peter Perkowski, representing Blanco and Backgrid, stated that Lopez's use of the images was "commercial in nature." He noted that while Lopez's team had orally agreed to a monetary settlement following the posting of the photos, she has not signed the agreement or made the payment.
This is not the first time Lopez has faced legal action over posting photos taken by others. She was previously sued in 2019 and 2020 for similar incidents. Other celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, and Khloe Kardashian, have also been involved in comparable legal disputes.
