Johnro buries EGS by 54 to stay unbeaten in AEBA hoops
JOHNRO Electrical continued its electrifying start after it demolished EGS Surveying, 133-79, in the Architects and Engineers Basketball Association (AEBA) 9th Corporate Cup over the weekend at the University of San Carlos (USC) Downtown Campus Gym in Cebu City.
The 54-point massacre kept Johnro’s unbeaten slate intact, tightening its hold on the solo no. 1 spot in the team standings of the 10-team field with a 4-0 (win-loss) slate.
Ritz Paran showed the way for Johnro with 22 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Paran was backed by Rico Cabizares and Jacob Hernandez, who finished with 19 and 18 points, respectively.
Juan Dela Torre fired a game-high 28 points for EGS, which suffered its third loss in four outings.
Chalking up separate wins to stay in the upper part of the standings were Davies Paints and CBM Engineering.
Forcing a three-way tie at second place, Davies Paints edged out Sinclair Paints, 93-90, while CBM Engineering dumped erstwhile unbeaten Avantrac, 88-65.
Davies Paints, Sinclair Paints, and CBM Engineering now tote identical 3-1 slates.
John Therese Buhawe paced Davies Paints with 23 points, nine rebounds, four steals and an assist while Kim Marilao added 21 points.
Philip Alegao had 23 points for Sinclair, which slid to 2-2.
Leading CBM Engineering was Reclear Navarro, who collected 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Darren Navasquez top scored for Avantrac with 16 points.
In other matches, RELLM Engineering improved to 2-2 by beating Sports & Play, 91-82, while Dextructures snatched its first win after a 0-3 start by nipping Fenestram, 84-77.
Sports & Play and Fenestram crashed to 1-3 and 0-4, respectively.(CCM)
