Man dies in San Fernando shootout

A MAN died after a shootout with police in Barangay Sangat, San Fernando, Cebu on Saturday morning, March 21.

The fatality was identified as Jay Castañares, whose remains were found in the burnt debris of his house.

Circumstances about the incident remained sketchy as of this writing. It was not immediately determined if the man died of gunshot wounds or if he was trapped in the burning house.

It was also not immediately determined what caused the house to catch fire.

Initial police investigation showed that the man fatally shot another man in the area.

Police rushed to the area and a shootout occured when the man allegedly fought back.(CDB)
