Mt. Zion advances to NYBL National Finals
MT. ZION, an under Under-14 basketball team, advanced to the biggest stage of the National Youth Basketball League (NYBL) after the nipped Hype, 70-64, last week at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
The victory sent the Jason Velez-coached Mt. Zion to the National Finals slated October 4-6 at the Ynares Sports Arena and Marist School in Marikina.
John Paul Desquitado keyed Mt. Zion with a team-high 25 points and was ably backed by Ivan Geraldez, who scattered 18 markers.
Ralf John Cahig and Jay Klarence Obeso helped Mt. Zion’s cause by producing nine points each.
Mt. Zion, which has Lary Quiño as assistant coach, also got five points from Jarred Quimbo.
Other players of Mt. Zion are Dominic Mendez, Leo Jeryne James Quiño, Ivansteve Remosil, Juan Gabriel Alerta, Kurt Romje Alindajao, Joseph Addison Flores, Jose Manuel Ubod, Thirdy Panganiban, Vancushman Virtudazo, and Zian Gryck Balansag.(CCM)
