THE New York Knicks have proven once again that no such thing as a safe lead for them as they pulled off another improbable comeback in a 91-90 squeaker over the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of their best-of-seven semifinal series in the Eastern Conference on Thursday (Philippine time), May 8.

The Knicks staged an encore when they wiped out a 20-point deficit, scoring back-to-back come-from-behind wins to go up 2-0 in the series.

With two amazing performances, things are certainly looking bright for the Knicks as the next two games will be held at Madison Square Garden where they went 27-14 in the regular season.

Just like in their 108-105 win in Game 1, the Knicks trailed by 20 points in Game 2 and were still down by 16 points in the final 8:40, 68-84.

The Knicks again found a way to extricate themselves out of a deep hole, erupting for 30 points in the final period while limiting the Celtics to just 17.

A massive run saw the Knicks seize the lead, 89-86, with 56.5 ticks left but Jayson Tatum hit two free throws then completed a soaring dunk that gave the lead back to the Celtics, 90-89, with 18.5 seconds remaining.

Jalen Brunson, who scored 17 points, was fouled by Jrue Holiday and sank two go-ahead free throws. Boston couldn’t even take a shot in the game’s final possession as Tatum was clobbered by New York’s stingy defense, sealing another cardiac finish that put the defending champions in a deep hole.

Josh Hart led the Knicks with 23 points, Karl-Anthony Towns tossed in 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Mikal Bridges had 14, 10 coming in the fourth period that sparked New York’s fightback.
