PB calls for active National Heritage Month participation

CEBUANOS, including local government units (LGUs), national government agencies, educational institutions, private organizations, and stakeholders, are encouraged to actively participate in the observance of National Heritage Month.

This call was the contain of a esolution authored by Board Member Rozgoni, who chairs the Committee on Arts and Culture.

Rozgoni said that by actively participating in the activities related to National Heritage Month, which is being observed every May, will help promote and deepen understanding of Cebu's culture and heritage.

Rozgoni emphasized the importance of celebrating the National Heritage month that does not only promote the culture but also preserve, protect and appreciate Cebuano cultural heritage.

“There is a need to further encourage the active participation of local government units, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and communities in safeguarding and promoting heritage through programs such as cultural exhibitions, heritage tours, historical awareness campaigns, and artistic performances,” read part of the resolution that was approved on May 11.

The same resolution was co-authored by board member Dason Larenz Lagon of the Sixth District.

The board members said, preserving the cultural heritage may include supporting local artisans, preserving historial sites, integrating local history in education, actively participating heritage-related events and promoting responsible tourism.

The observance of the National Heritage Month is in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 439 which promotes awarenes and appreciation of Filipino cultural history.(MyTVCebu)
