CHARGES for alarm and scandal will be filed by the Highway Patrol Group-Central Visayas (HPG-7) against the motorcycle rider who performed a "Superman" stunt in Transcentral Highway, Cebu on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Videos and photos of the stunt were widely shared on social media.

Lt. Col. Wildemar Tiu, chief of HPG-7, said what Kylle Econas did was dangerous that also compromised the safety of other motorists.

Tiu said that during the stunt, Econas even collided with another rider.

Fortunately, the incident did not cause serious injuries.

Econas, a 21-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion, Consolacion, had been directed to appear before the Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO-7)

Tiu said the decision to filecharges against Econas is also meant to sternly warn those who may perform similar reckless stunts.

“Pasakaan natog kaso aron motagam na sila diha nga mag gara-gara sa TCH,” said Tiu.

Tiu added that it has been noted that riders have started flocking again to Red Cliff in Barangay Cantipla, Cebu City during weekends.

With this, the HPG-7, in coordination with the Cebu City Mobile Force Company and Balamban Municipal Police Station, will be sending personnel to the area to conduct checkpoints.

Tiu said the presence of police will help stop the holding of drag races in thr area.

Tiu said there were reports that drag races have become a form of gambling for some riders.

“Ang maka pa trigger aning drag race-drag race naa man sad gyuy nalambigit nga sa pagka sayod nako ha, mag pustaanay man gyud ba, involve sad nig gambling,” said Tiu.

Econas, on the other hand, apologized to the LTO-7 and HPG-7 over the incident.

“Mangayo lang kog pasaylo sir, mangayog kog laing chance kay dili nato nako usbon, kinasing-kasing nako sa pagpangayog pasaylo tagaan lang ko ninyu og chance nga dili na mausab,” said Econas.

Econas admitted that he was able to acquire a driver's license through a fixer.

Without identifying the fixer, Econas said he spent P12,000 to process his driver's license without undergoing a seminar and driving lesson course.(CDB)
