Sexagenarian killed in Naga road crash

A 69-YEAR-OLD man died after he was hit by a passenger bus along a national highway in Naga City, southern Cebu on Wednesday night, Feb. 18.

The fatality was identified as Edgar Sayago Cavalida of Purok Jade, Barangay East Poblacion, Naga.

Investigation conducted by the Naga police showed that Cavalida was crossing the road when he was hit by a bus driven by Junrey Basanta, a 35-year-old resident of Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City, Cebu.

The driver told the police that he didn’t see the man crossing the road. He said he tried to apply the brake but it was too late.

The victim was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead.

The driver was taken into police custody.(CDB)
