Spate of shooting incidents hound Dalaguete
A SPATE of shooting incidents has raised security concerns in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.
Since last month, at least three shooting incidents happened in the town, prompting the local government unit (LGU) to implement stricter security measures.
"Sa mga umaabot nga mga adlaw, mahimo kitang makasinati og mas hugot nga security measures, lakip na ang increased police and military visibility, checkpoints, ug posibleng mas sayo nga pagpatuman sa curfew alang sa kaluwasan sa tanang Dalaguetnon," the LGU said in a statement.
The latest gun violence happened on Saturday morning, July 11.
Carin Dicdican, a 58-year-old resident in Barangay Cawayan, was driving a tricycle with two passengers on board when two unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him.
The victim died on the spot with a gunshot wound at the back of the head.
On June 27, a 63-year old tricycle driver was also shot and killed by two gunmen. The victim was standing beside his tricycle when he was shot in the chest.
A separate attack happened on June 6 in Dalaguete in which a 72-year old American national who shot and killed by another American inside a KTV bar.
Police reported that the incident stemmed from a personal grudge.
"Ang mga recent shooting incidents nakahatag na og seryoso nga kabalaka sa peace and order sa atong lungsod,," the LGU said.
Officials advised residents to remain calm and be vigilant by cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
The public was urged to report immediately those involved in suspicious activities.(MyTVCebu)
