Taiwanese linked to killing of Chinese national nabbed
A 32-YEAR-OLD Taiwanese suspected of masterminding the gruesome murder of a Chinese national was arrested by police on Thursday, Feb. 19.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin identified the suspect only by his alias “Davao,” who was described as a friend of the victim.
The suspect was arrested at a casino in Parañaque and is currently detained at the Pasay City police jail.
Police earlier arrested a second suspect, a 64-year-old man named Victor, who allegedly assisted in hauling the victim’s body from a condominium along Roxas Boulevard to Binondo.
The victim, identified as Xiangyang, was later confirmed to be a Chinese national through a grocery membership card found by police.
It was on Feb. 15 when police discovered Xiangyang’s dismembered body inside a drum and wrapped in a black trash bag. Some parts of his body were reportedly dumped elsewhere the following day, adding to the gruesome nature of the crime.
Police also recovered a steel hacksaw and a chopping knife, believed to have been used in the killing. The weapons were found thrown away in a trash area near the exit of the condominium’s 15th floor, where investigators believe the murder took place.
Pasay police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto earlier said investigators are looking into possible motives, including alleged debts linked to illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators.(Jeff Marco Zamora, BIPSU Comm Intern)
