WITH the intervention of US President Donald Trump, Thailand and Cambodia agreed to discuss a ceasefire after days of deadly fighting.

Leaders of Thailand and Cambodia agreed to discuss the peace talks in Malaysia after Trump threatened that no tariff reduction will happen if the two countries refused to talk for a ceasefire.

Ever since the border clash began on July 24, at least 33 soldiers and civilians were killed while thousands of Thai and Cambodians were displaced.

In a report from BBC News, Trump mentioned that reducing 36% of tariffs that had been imposed on the two countries will not happen unless both parties decide to end the fighting.

“I think they want to settle,” he said on Truth Social.

The attacks still continued until Sunday, even though both countries had extended thanks with Trump for exerting efforts to end the conflict.
