WITH the series down to best-of-three, a crucial win will be at stake when the defending champions San Miguel Beermen and TNT Tropang 5G battle in Game 4 of the 50th PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Friday night, Jan. 30, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The best-of-seven series is tied at two games apiece and with a 3-2 advantage going to the victor in the crucial Game 5, expect a dogfight between the two protagonists.

TNT is looking to sustain the momentum of its resounding 110-87 win in Game 4.

Behind Calvin Oftana, the Tropa led by as many as 35 points in the blowout Game 4 win, marking the first time that a team won with relative ease in the series.

Oftana scored 29 points in Game 4 that saw the Tropa never look back after building a huge 35-18 lead after 12 minutes of play. It was a big bounce-back win for TNT after it suffered a sorry 89-95 loss in Game 3, where it succumbed to CJ Perez’s endgame explosion.

TNT also won Game 1, 96-91, before San Miguel evened things up in Game 2, 111-92.

The Game 4 loss spoiled June Mar Fajardo’s memorable night as the Cebuano big man secured his 13th Best Player of the Conference trophy during the awarding ceremony before tip-off.(CCM)
