The Tubo Cebu Art Fair returns for its 6th year, joining forces with the Cebu Art Book Fair (CABF) to present an unprecedented celebration of Cebuano creativity.
From August 30 to September 1, 2024, Ayala Center Cebu will transform into a vibrant hub for artistic expression, showcasing the finest in Cebu's visual arts and independent publishing scenes.
This year’s theme, "ASCEND," underscores Tubo Cebu Art Fair's ongoing mission to elevate local artists. Since its debut in 2018 with just 30 booths, Tubo has flourished into a major event, now featuring over 100 booths and more than 600 artists from across the Philippines.
Fair Curator Jay Nathan Jore encourages participating artists to push boundaries: "We urge artists to experiment with new methods, materials, and concepts. Embrace new media and technology in their creative processes."
Visitors can look forward to an eclectic mix of art forms, including contemporary paintings, sculptures, mixed media installations, and digital art. Interactive workshops and artist talks, featuring renowned Filipino artist Emmanuel Garibay, will offer deep insights into the creative processes behind the works.
A highlight of this year's fair is the Image of the Fair, a collaborative project that brings together senior artists and emerging talents on a single canvas, reflecting the event’s theme. Additionally, a special multisensory installation by acclaimed contemporary artist Mark Salvatus will captivate audiences.
The fair also features a Signature Collection of exceptional pieces curated by Romulo Galicano, showcasing standout works from distinguished artists. Attendees will enjoy screenings of award-winning short films from CITU's Camvas Film Competition and live performances by Cebu Pop Music icons Lourdes and Jerika Teororico.
Presented by the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation, Inc., the Local Government of Cebu City, Cebu City Arts Month, and Ayala Center Cebu, and supported by Jose T. Joya Gallery, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Virginia, D+B Wines & Spirits, Black Smokehaus, Pepper Lunch, Islands Souvenirs, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Quest Hotel, and Shakey’s, the Tubo Cebu Art Fair promises a dynamic cultural experience.
The Cebu Art Book Fair (CABF) returns for its third edition, spotlighting the dynamic world of self-publishing. Opening on August 31 at Level 1 of Ayala Center Cebu, CABF will celebrate zines, art books, independent magazines, and DIY storytelling.
Founded in 2022 by designer Marc Abuan and local studio Happy Garaje, CABF has quickly become a key event in Cebu's art scene. This year’s fair features over 20 booths and 30 artists, including National Book Awardee Rob Cham and emerging design studios Eclectic Haus and Sagedvice Studio. Highlights include a forum with Dapat Studio and a zine-sharing session with South Korean design studio Supersonic Studio.
CABF’s program also includes a poster show titled "Maayong Bungkag" at Atua Midtown, along with talks and workshops designed to inspire creativity and foster dialogue.
The collaboration between Tubo Cebu Art Fair and CABF represents a major cultural event in Cebu, offering a unique chance to explore the city’s vibrant artistic landscape. Supported by the Cebu City Government as part of its Arts Month celebration, this combined event promises a feast for the senses and a showcase of Cebu’s burgeoning artistic talent.
The fairs are officially partnered with PRWorks, with media support from Sunstar, The Freeman, and MyTV Cebu.
