UC forces winner-take-all Game 3

ONE final game will end the latest chapter of this bitter rivalry.

The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters refused to roll over and just die after they hacked out a 76-68 win over the defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in Game 2 of their best-of-three title series in the college division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 25 basketball tournament on Thursday night, Dec. 12, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Webmasters bounced back from a heart-breaking 72-74 double-overtime loss in Game 1, keeping their bid to end an 11-year title drought alive by sending the series to a winner-take-all Game 3.

Ricofer Sordilla stood the tallest in the resounding win as he led the Webmasters with 20 points, four rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

Sordilla got ample support with Jepherson Nonol tallying 12 points and Neon Chavez collecting nine points, five assists, four steals, two rebounds, and one block.

Joseph Art Nalos and Carlo Salgarino added a combined 16 points in the win.

Raul Gentallan piled up 23 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds but UV faltered in its bid to immediately close out the series.

The Green Lancers will now have to go through what could be a pulsating Game 3 to complete a four-peat.

Game 3 of the series is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, still at the Cebu Coliseum.(CCM)
