VP Sara’s satisfaction rating rises to 58%

A LATEST Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showd that public satisfaction with Vice President Sara Duterte slightly increased in the second quarter of the year despite facing an ongoing impeachment trial.

The survey, conducted from June 20 to 29, found that 58 percent of respondents were satisfied with Duterte’s performance as Vice President, a slight increase from the 54 percent in the March survey, a report by Philstar.

The percentage of dissatisfied respondents remained nearly unchanged at 26 percent, up slightly from 25 percent, while those who were undecided declined from 21 percent to 15 percent.

The survey was conducted a month after the House of Representatives impeached Duterte for the second time and just days before her impeachment trial opened on July 6.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also improved, rising from a “moderate” +29 in March to a “good” +31.

The net satisfaction rating is obtained by subtracting those who were satisfied from those who were dissatisfied with the performance of a government official.

Under SWS' classification, net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above are considered "excellent," +50 to +69 as “very good,” +30 to +49 as “good,” +10 to +29 as “moderate,” +9 to -9 as “neutral,” -10 to -29 as “poor,” -30 to -49 as “bad,” -50 to -69 as “very bad,” and -70 and below as “execrable.”

Duterte recorded her highest satisfaction rating in Mindanao, her political stronghold, at 88 percent, up from 86 percent, followed by the Visayas at 58 percent (from 56 percent), while both Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon posted 45 percent, up from 42 percent and 39 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, dissatisfaction was highest in Metro Manila at 42 percent, up from 37 percent. This was followed by the rest of Luzon at 35 percent (from 34 percent), the Visayas at 19 percent (from 23 percent), and Mindanao at five percent (from four percent).

Despite the impeachment proceedings, Duterte continued to post the highest net satisfaction rating among the country’s top government officials.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. registered a “neutral” net satisfaction rating of -7, improving from a “poor” -15 in March.

Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian posted a “moderate” net satisfaction rating of +18, with 45 percent of respondents satisfied and 27 percent dissatisfied with his performance.

Meanwhile, Speaker Faustino Dy and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo received “neutral” and “moderate” net satisfaction ratings, respectively.(Mary Elaine Virtucio, UP Cebu Comm Intern)VP Sara’s satisfaction rating rises to 58%
