AFTER an impressive performance in his first pro fight in more than four years, bigger and more lucrative fights could come in Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s way.
Pacquiao is reportedly plotting his next move. He intends to fight again in October or December but a rematch with Mario Barrios is off the table as his camp is eyeing a pair of big names as possible opponents.
According to Sean Gibbons, the top official of Pacquiao's MP Promotions, the legendary Filipino boxer could forge a possible face-off WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero.
A duel with Gervonta Davis, the WBA lightweight champion, is also possible for the 46-year-old Pacquiao, said Gibbons.
Romero, 29, has 17 wins, 13 by knockouts, and two losses. The 30-year-old Davis is the more dangerous foe as the American knockout artist is still unbeaten, holding an impressive 30W-0L-1D, 28KOs knockout.
Pacquiao kicked off his ring comeback on a high note. Though settling for a majority draw against Barrios, Pacquiao drew immense admiration after standing his ground against his younger opponent.
Pacquiao was ahead in the scorecards going into the championship rounds but one judge scored the fight for Barrios, 115-113, while the two others had it even, 114-114, allowing the defending champion to barely keep his crown.(CCM)
