FORMER Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. surrendered on Monday night, Jan. 19, to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The surrender came after the anti-graft court’s Third Division issued a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against Revilla and six Department of Public Works and Highways officials for malversation of public funds linked to an alleged ghost project in Bulacan.
Revilla has since posted bail in the amount of P90,000 for the graft charge.
But since the malversation of public funds case is non-bailable, Revilla could not be released while the case is pending before the Sandiganbayan.
“Upon his arrival, the CIDG was immediately summoned to serve the warrant of arrest issued against him. The warrant was duly implemented, and the former senator was formally informed of the nature of his arrest and his constitutional rights,” the Philippine National Police (PNP) said in a statement.( Adriane Josef Cabase, USJ-R Comm Intern)
