ACTION shifts to higher gear as the quarterfinal pairings of the 49th PBA Philippine Cup has been set following the completion of the elimination round on Sunday, June 15.

The end of the eliminations saw San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra score blowout wins with the Beermen dumping the NorthPort Batang Pier, 126-91, and the Kings thrashing the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 98-80.

San Miguel ended up as the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals followed by the NLEX Road Warriors, Magnolia Hotshots, and Ginebra.

Other quarterfinalists are the Meralco Bolts, Rain or Shine, Converge FiberXers, and the TNT Tropang 5G.

Booted out from contention are the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Blackwater Bossing, Terrafirma Dyip, and NorthPort.

As the top four seeds, San Miguel, NLEX, Magnolia, and Ginebra will enjoy twice-to-beat incentives against their lower-ranked foes.

In the quarters, San Miguel will take on Meralco while NLEX will go up against Rain or Shine. The other Final 8 duels will have Ginebra battling Converge and Magnolia clashing with TNT.

The quarterfinal round will begin on Wednesday, June 18, with NLEX and Rain or Shine facing off in the 5 p.m. opener followed by the 7:30 p.m. duel between Magnolia and TNT.(CCM)
