Bohol athletes ready for CVIRAA Meet
ATHLETES from Bohol province are all set for the 2026 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet, which will kick off on March 22 in the City of Naga, Cebu.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado led the send-off ceremony for the 1,026-strong Bohol delegation on Wednesday, March 18, at the Valencia Technical-Vocational High School.
The delegation includes student-athletes, coaches, trainers, and officials.
Aumentado stressed that the provincial government has heavily invested in sports development in its bid to help mold the youth to become exceptional leaders in the future.
“My heart is filled with joy and gratitude to our Lord and to those who became instrumental in this endeavor that allowed us to provide support to our young athletes,” said Aumentado.
Bohol had a stellar campaign in last year’s CVIRAA Meet held in Bayawan City where it finished second overall with 61 golds, 51 silvers, and 79 bronzes.
Perennial overall champion Cebu City claimed the top spot with 105 golds, 89 silvers, and 73 bronzes.
The weeklong CVIRAA Meet is returning to Naga for the third time after it hosted the 2016 and 2017 editions.
Pitting Region 7’s top elementary and secondary athletes, this year’s meet has been reduced from 20 to 12 divisions following the creation of the Negros Island Region.(CCM)
