AT LEAST 30 people have been reported dead after the country was hit by successive cyclones combined with the ill-effects of the southwest monsoon rains.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday, July 26, reported that the National Capital Region logged the highest death toll so far, with nine people reported fatalities.

Six of the deaths were reported in Western Visayas while the four others were from Calabarzon.

At least 10 other people were injured, while seven people remained missing, the NDRRMC said per a report by Philstar.

Strong winds and rains were experienced in the country for the past week due to tropical cyclones Crising, Dante and Emong. All three cyclones have exited the Philippine area of responsibility, the southwest monsoon rains are still affecting the country.

The string of cyclones have affected 5.2 million people across 17 regions, displacing 310,000 persons.

The NDRRMC added that at least 1,401 areas were flooded with 154 localities declaring a state of calamity.

Damage to infrastructure caused by the cyclones has reached P5 billion, with 368 structures affected. The weather systems also damaged 3,569 houses, amounting to P3.2 million in losses, and affected over 19,000 farmers, damaging over 19,000 hectares of crops.

The NDRRMC recorded P766 million in damage to agriculture, with an additional P11.86 million in damage to livestock, poultry and fisheries.
