FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte has once again alleged that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is addicted to illegal drugs.

Duterte brought up the drug issue involving Marcos during the proclamation rally of the senatorial candidates of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in San Juan City on Thursday, February 13.

In his speech, Duterte said “one president” is “bangag” or high on illegal drugs.

The ex-President accused Marcos of using heroin.

Duterte's allegations linking Marcos to illegal drug use are not new, as he previously reported that he had evidence from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) linking the incumbent president to illegal drugs.

The PDEA has denied any of his claims that Marcos is on the anti-drug watch list.

Duterte said the continued heroin use might allow Marcos to live up to 80 years old, but he would be immobile by then.

Marcos' former Executive Secretary, Vic Rodriguez, has challenged the president to undergo drug testing.

Duterte has also repeatedly challenged Marcos to take a public drug test to demonstrate his innocence regarding drug abuse.

In November last year, Duterte dared the military to uphold the Constitution, questioning how long they would support a President who he believes is a drug addict.(Rey Martin Rio, USJ-R Comm Intern)
