NBI denies ‘Bato’ capture, manhunt still ongoing

WHERE is Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa? The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Tuesday, Aug. 4, that the search for the senator remains ongoing, amid reports that he had already been arrested.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag dismissed reports of Dela Rosa’s arrest, saying authorities have yet to take dela Rosa into custody.

“No. Not on our part,” Matibag said in Filipino in an interview, as quoted by the Inquirer.

Dela Rosa is facing an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant over his alleged involvement in the war on illegal drugs during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

His legal counsel, Israelito Torreon, also said he had not received any information confirming that the senator had been apprehended.

Torreon said he has likewise lost contact with his client. He said the last time he spoke with dela Rosa was two hours after the senator escaped from the Senate building on May 14.(MyTVCebu)
