UC starts 3-peat drive with win over BC in CESAFI v’ball tilt
THE three-peat-seeking University of Cebu (UC)-Main Baby Webmasters ledi the opening-day winners in the CESAFI Season 26 secondary boys volleyball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Behind Mon Revin Estenzo, UC cruised to a 25-12, 25-21 win over the Benedicto College Baby Cheetahs, 25-12, 25-21.
Estenzo came up with eight points anchored on five kills. John Joseph Areja chipped in six points while Raven Kerr Itao and Chrysander Tan pitched in five and four points, respectively.
The Baby Cheetahs stumbled despite the stellar game of James Carl Rustia, who scored 18 points built on 17 attacks, 12 kills and four aces.
Also making it to the win column were the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.
USJ-R drubbed the Don Bosco Greywolves, 25-12, 25-18, while the Baby Panthers chalked up their own straight-set win by whipping the San Carlos School of Cebu Baby Warriors, 25-12, 25-15.
Vernie Aupe led USJ-R with 12 points. Josh Keifer Vilar had 17 points for the losing Greywolves.
The Baby Panthers, on the other hand, banked on Theo Gregory Halina and Joem Soriano to get the easy win with the former scoring 16 points and the latter nailing 15 points.
Alonzo David Canizares and Xian Andy Taboada led the Baby Warriors with eight points apiece.(CCM)
